S235JR steel plate surface classification

S235JR steel plate is a European standard non-alloy structural steel, which is equivalent to the national standard Q235B, which is a carbon structural steel with a lower carbon content. It is used for welding, bolting, and riveting structures.

S235JR steel plate ordinary surface (FA)
The surface of S235JR steel plate is allowed to have slight and local defects such as pitting, concave surface, scratches, etc. whose depth (or height) does not exceed half of the thickness tolerance of the steel plate, but the minimum allowable thickness of S235JR steel plate and steel strip should be guaranteed.

S235JR steel plate higher surface (FB)
The surface of S235JR steel plate is allowed to have local defects that do not affect the formability, such as slight scratches, slight indentations, slight pitting, slight roll marks and color differences.

S235JR steel plate is mainly used in construction, bridges, ships, vehicle structural parts, manufacturing various tools, cutting tools, molds and measuring tools, etc.
